Community Guidelines

Date of last revision: Tuesday, December 10, 2019

Hi everybody!

We’re glad that you’re joining us on this journey to make (and experience) a new kind of mixed reality. We wrote these Community Guidelines to make sure everybody has a good time while they’re here, and to protect our community. We’re pretty serious about enforcing them. So read closely, please. Sadly, if you don’t follow these rules, we may have to ban you from our services or block you from interacting in our community. *sigh*

We expect everybody here to act like a grown up. (We know you have it in you!)

  1. Don’t say offensive things. We want you to be creative and work together. But distribution of any offensive or obscene things (like pornography, hateful materials, or profane language) will not be tolerated. Let’s keep it PG-13, ok?
  2. No bullies allowed. Don’t post or say anything that could be considered threatening or harmful to another person or group of people, or to someone else’s property. Anything harassing, libelous, defamatory, or that could be considered bullying is not OK. We mean it.
  3. Stay on-topic. The Developer Portal forums and any other public forums we offer through our products and services exist for discussion of the creation of mixed reality and spatial computing experiences. If you're making off-topic comments, taking threads off-topic, or trolling, you're likely to find that your post has suddenly disappeared. Our services are meant to foster relevant discussions that are easy for our developer community to navigate.
  4. No spamming. Don’t send unsolicited messages to people you don’t know (that is, people you don’t have a business or personal relationship with). And don’t use our services to collect responses to your spam. It’s not OK to contact others for commercial purposes without their consent, or to use our services for your own self-promotion.
  5. Respect everybody’s IP. Respect everyone’s copyrights, trademarks and other legal rights. That means don’t post or use anything that doesn’t belong to you (or that you don’t have the right to post or use). If you think someone has infringed on your intellectual property rights – let us know.
  6. Respect everyone’s privacy. Don’t collect, store or use any info about other people (like their names, email addresses or business affiliations) without their permission.
  7. Don’t pretend to be someone else. We like you for you. It’s not cool to impersonate anyone or give us false info about yourself. Also, please don’t pretend to be affiliated with a company or brand unless you actually have permission.
  8. The law still applies. Last time we checked, we all live on planet Earth and are subject to the laws of our lands. Put another way, based on where you live, certain laws, rules and government regulations might apply to you when you use our services or generally interact online. Don’t break the law.
  9. If you see something, say something. If you find out that anyone is violating these Community Guidelines, please let us know. We’re all in this together. If you do happen to see something, go ahead and post in the forums on the Developer Portal or email legal@magicleap.com. We'll take it from there.
  10. Upvote comments & posts. See a question you'd like answered? Upvote it to bring it to the community's attention. Similarly, if someone's comment has an answer that worked for you, go ahead and upvote that as well. Building a knowledge base starts with you. And we're grateful for your support.
  11. A word about changes and additions to these Community Guidelines. We’ll probably change these Community Guidelines. And make additions. When we do, we’ll let you know (like by changing the date on the top, or sending an email). If you continue to use our services (including any use of your Magic Leap ID) after the change, your continued use means you accept our changes. We suggest you take a look at these Community Guidelines on your own from time-to-time to see the latest and greatest.
